Our client is a leading Australian retailer operating in the energy sector. With a strong commitment to excellence, they have achieved remarkable growth, serving over 150,000 customers across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and South-Eastern Queensland.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel with 6+ years' experience in the energy retail sector to join their team. As a trusted advisor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal support to the Board, Executive team, and business units, ensuring the company minimises legal risk.

The key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Providing timely and commercial legal advice to internal stakeholders;
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of agreements to maximise commercial outcomes and minimise legal risk;
  • Legal review of marketing materials, customer collateral, training, and scripts;
  • Management of legal disputes;
  • Supporting the GM of Compliance in responding to regulator inquiries and information requests.

About the role...

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled lawyer to take on a senior leadership position within the company's legal department. You will be working closely with the Executive team to ensure that all legal aspects of the business are properly managed and advised.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 6+ years post-admission experience gained within the energy retail sector or a related field;
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with ability to effectively manage competing priorities;
  • Highly developed communication skills - both written and oral - to deliver complex ideas and issues simply and powerfully;
  • Strong attention to detail and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations;
  • Independent and self-motivated, flexible, and resilient, with the ability to adapt quickly.
