We are seeking a motivated and hard-working Culinary Apprentice to join our award-winning team at Australian Training Company. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced chefs in preparing and cooking a wide range of dishes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for food and a good understanding of cooking techniques and presentation. You will be required to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

The requirements for this role include:

  • Being an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Having a strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure
  • Having a good understanding of food presentation and cooking techniques
  • Having excellent communication skills
  • Being able to work as a team and maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
  • Ensuring safe food handling procedures and complying with food safety standards
  • Performing routine kitchen tasks and other kitchen duties as assigned
  • Following the prep list created to plan duties
  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on shelves
  • Measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Preparing cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep
  • Assisting the chef in all food service operations and day-to-day operations of the kitchen
  • Undertaking basic cooking duties and preparing simple dishes
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen by keeping stations clean, washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out garbage
  • Ensuring that all food and other items are stored properly
  • Ensuring and observing correct WH&S procedures
  • Ensuring a high level of personal hygiene
  • Working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, with varying hours from 38-45 hours per week
