Job Description

As a key member of our operational team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our early childhood education centre.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning floors using manual or mechanical cleaning equipment (mops, vacuum cleaners, floor cleaners)
  • Emptying rubbish and recycling bins, ensuring bin liners are replaced and bins are kept clean and free from smell.
  • Laundry washing and folding.
  • Dusting and tidying of all assigned areas, rooms and furniture.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Washing windows, walls, mirrors and glass surfaces and ensure they are streak free.
  • Ensuring bathrooms are stocked with all necessary items including soaps, toilet paper, hand towels, etc.
  • Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and materials
  • Ensuring that chemicals and cleaning products are handled and stored safely.
  • Responding to scheduled and ad-hoc cleaning requests
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Previous experience as a cleaner in an educational (school or early childhood) or commercial setting (highly regarded).
  • A current blue card or willingness to obtain.
  • Appropriate knowledge of cleaning products, safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals, or willingness to learn.
  • The ability to follow directions, policies and procedures.
  • The ability to work autonomously and have a strong Work Health and Safety focus.
  • A flexible approach and attitude with excellent communication skills.

How to Apply

This is a part-time role with a pay rate of $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. The position requires you to work onsite at our centre in Mernda.
