About the Role

This role supports the administration of the department's funding governance model to schools, ensuring compliance with key policies and legislative requirements, coordinating annual attestation processes (for both the department and schools), aiding systems implementation and management, as well as maintaining the department's financial and internal control frameworks.

The role will also assist the Manager, Financial Compliance with the team's management in meeting financial management and taxation compliance requirements.

The role will maintain key linkages with relevant central agencies, other departments and portfolio entities, and within the department and schools to achieve a high level of support in the oversight, monitoring and compliance with the Government's financial management policies and funding governance model.

About You

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capability, experience and expertise in managing compliance, governance and assurance monitoring and reporting processes, and in ensuring financial policies, procedures, activities reflect and comply with legislative and departmental requirements.

They will also:

  • have experience in providing specialist advice
  • possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills across a wide range of mediums (e.g., reporting and brief writing, dealing with ad hoc stakeholder queries)
  • be highly organised and able to work within tight deadlines, adaptable to change, able to prioritise, multi-task and display a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • be a collaborative team player, who can support and motivate those around them
  • possess excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills, to provide excellent customer and team support
  • be able to assist with team management to support the delivery of outcomes

Government experience or business knowledge of the department is desirable.

Qualifications

Essential: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent, membership with CPA, CA or equivalent and relevant and transferrable experience, knowledge and skills in financial compliance.

Bachelor's degree in an analytical field, Mathematics, IT, Engineering or Science is desirable.
