Instructional Support Specialist

Job Summary:
The role of the Paraeducator Level II involves providing instructional and classroom management supports to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) at an elementary school. This includes participating in learning activities off school grounds, assisting students with various needs related to academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support, and managing behaviors that impact student access to curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support students in mastering grade-level curriculum or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards
- Assist students with diverse needs related to academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support
- Manage behaviors that hinder student access to curriculum
- Implement a range of instructional and classroom management strategies
- Perform administrative tasks to support teachers and other professional staff
Requirements:
- Knowledge of child development, instructional methods, and practices applicable to the assignment
- Ability to assist in implementing the instructional program and participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior
- Capacity to exhibit patience and work effectively with children, young adults, and staff members
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required tasks
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
