Collection Stewardship Lead

We are seeking a visionary leader to helm our Special Collections team, driving exceptional collection stewardship and client service.

  • This senior role requires a forward-thinking leader to cultivate a collaborative team culture, ensuring exceptional collection stewardship and client service, while actively contributing to the library's strategic planning and management.

The ideal candidate will possess a postgraduate qualification and extensive experience in leading and managing special collections. They will have demonstrated knowledge of sector trends and legislative frameworks, ensuring alignment with research, learning, student experience, and community engagement.

Key focus areas include:

  • Preparing for significant milestones, such as centenary celebrations
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Expanding collection reach and impact through innovative approaches
  • Maturing digital preservation strategies
  • Capital works projects
  • Enhancing access to collections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to support truth-telling and language revitalisation

Requirements:

Demonstrated leadership skills, including project management, service management, and evidence-based practice.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and promote the library's services.

Proven ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of recognition and ongoing development.
