About Our TeamOur Procurement team is focused on delivering effective solutions. As a top 30 ASX-listed company, Coles Group engages with a vast array of suppliers to meet our diverse operational needs. Our team excels in minimizing costs and risks throughout our supply chain, collaborating with various business units to create and implement innovative sourcing and contracting strategies that yield sustainable value for our customers.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Procurement Category Manager to enhance our team. In this role, you will be responsible for formulating and executing category strategies that deliver innovative and sustainable outcomes, ensuring a competitive edge while managing costs and risks in alignment with contract renewal processes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as Coles' commercial representative in engagements across various sectors.
- Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve agreed benefits and formalize contracts.
- Maximizing value while effectively managing third-party risks, collaborating with contract managers to uphold Coles' Third Party Risk Management protocols.
- Meeting or surpassing annual efficiency targets as outlined in the category plan through strategic supplier and internal customer interactions.
- Developing and executing essential sourcing initiatives and projects, ensuring ongoing alignment with key business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience as a Procurement Category Manager, with a proven track record in leading significant contract negotiations within a comparable environment. You should demonstrate a high level of energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders effectively.
Additionally, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Commerce, Legal, or Procurement.
- Strong business acumen coupled with exceptional negotiation skills.
- Expertise in Supplier Performance Management and Supplier Relationship Management.
- Comprehensive commercial experience, ideally gained in large-scale commercial, FMCG, or retail settings.
- Significant experience in procurement or commercial management.
- A background in developing, implementing, and sustaining category strategies across various categories.
