The role of Central Sterilising Department Attendant is crucial in the effectiveness of sterilisation services at the Friendly Society Private Hospital. This position requires a team player who can coordinate and collaborate in the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.



In this role, you will be supporting our clinical team within our five theatre complex, which undertakes a wide range of surgeries, including ENT, General, Plastic and Cosmetic, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Urology, and Vascular Surgery.



Key Responsibilities


  • Coordinate and collaborate with the team to ensure efficient and effective sterilisation services.
  • Assist in the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Support the clinical team in the theatre complex, ensuring the smooth running of operations.
  • Maintain high standards of infection control and sterilisation, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.


Requirements


  • Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Sterilising Services) or willingness to obtain.
  • Working knowledge of sterilisation and infection control standards, with experience in operating and monitoring specialised equipment (e.g. Autoclaves, sterilisers).
  • Ability to perform manual tasks and meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Sound knowledge of surgical instruments, instrument care, and packing techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions, work in a team environment, or autonomously.
  • Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Explorer.
