About the Role:

The Network Operations Centre (NOC) Director oversees the overall direction and strategy for the NOC operations. This involves daily coordination, management, monitoring, and performance enhancement. The role requires collaboration with key stakeholders, including third-party technicians, external clients, and customers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee global network and support systems operation.
  • Evaluate and improve continual processes within the NOC, focusing on automation tasks and reporting, enterprise-wide monitoring initiatives, and routine administration tasks.
  • Manage technical support for multiple environments' health and maintenance.
  • Resolve incidents across supported services, specializing in IP and transmission technologies, prioritization, communication, review, and escalation.
  • Perform tier-2 and 3 escalation support as the point of contact in the NOC for all inquiries from senior leadership and other managers.
  • Handle real-time crisis management and communicate network security, health, and status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot, restore services, and analyze overall system delivery.
  • Monitor critical infrastructure across different areas, including fibre, transmission, switch/routing assets, and inventory spares.
  • Investigate network alerts, hardware malfunctions, and outages planned and unplanned, completing post-incident reports for customers and executives.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce configuration management and change management policies and practices.
  • Review key dashboards for transparency of reporting uptime and other metrics as identified.
  • Coordinate vendor meetings, including partners such as telecom providers.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all internal stakeholders and external partners related to the NOC.
  • Create and maintain automated reporting processes to produce regular updates, including weekly operational reports and DOD reporting.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of network deployment and infrastructure, excellent troubleshooting skills, and proven ability to apply automation and continuous improvement practices.
  • High-level customer relationship management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Able to staff as required to ensure seamless operation of the NOC.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with a telecoms operational environment.
  • Understanding of transmission/long-haul-subsea-optical networks.
