Food Service Assistant Opportunity

This is a permanent part-time role working across various sites to deliver high-quality, person-centred food services to residents.

As a Food Service Assistant, you will be part of a cohesive team undertaking general catering duties for the provision of excellent catering services.

Daily tasks include:

  • Assisting in the preparation, cooking, distribution and serving of all types of meals for residents, visitors, staff and functions.
  • Ensuring food safety, quality and hygiene standards are maintained as per policy and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of catering activities including food temperature monitoring.
  • Reporting resident feedback on meal satisfaction.
  • Working collaboratively with other staff to provide person-centred food services and supports that are safe and effective.
  • Supporting residents in making their own food decisions, in conjunction with nursing staff, to enhance social connection.

Key requirements for this role include prior experience in a food handling capacity, previous driving experience with commercial vans, a current and valid driver's license, sound food handling practices, good communication skills, adequate English literacy, ability to communicate effectively with older people, sound manual handling skills, good time management and a basic understanding of dementia support requirements.
