Art Curator for Indigenous Australian Art Collection

We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Assistant Curator, Indigenous Australian Art. This role is responsible for assisting the Curator of Indigenous Australian Art with various tasks related to the management and promotion of the Gallery's Indigenous Australian Art collection.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Curator, Indigenous Australian Art, by researching, cataloging, preparing works of art for exhibition, recommending new acquisitions, and contributing to community representation and stakeholder liaison.
This role involves working closely with the Curatorial Manager, Australian Art department, to develop and implement curatorial strategies that align with the Gallery's vision and goals.
You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of artists, stakeholders, and community groups to promote the Gallery's Indigenous Australian Art collection and contribute to the development of exhibitions and programs.
About the Role- Assist the Curator, Indigenous Australian Art, with research, documentation, and display of the Indigenous Australian Art collection.
- Contribute to the development of exhibitions and programs related to Indigenous Australian Art.
- Provide administrative support to the Curator, including cataloging, preparing works of art for exhibition, and recommending new acquisitions.
- Work with community groups and stakeholders to promote the Gallery's Indigenous Australian Art collection.
- Tertiary qualifications in art history, visual arts, or museum studies.
- Broad working knowledge of Indigenous Australian Art.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The salary for this role is $A65,000 - $A80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
