Casual Academic English Teaching Opportunities

High-quality English language and Teacher Training programs are available at the University of Adelaide's English Language Centre (ELC).

We invite expressions of interest for F2F casual and relief sessional teaching opportunities, with potential to work across various programs:

  • Academic English Programs
  • Direct Entry Pathway Programs
  • General English Programs
  • Teacher Training Programs

Responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying student needs and goals through effective communication and assessment
  2. Designing and delivering student-centred learning activities that cater to diverse learning styles
  3. Evaluating student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly
  4. Maintaining high educational standards and promoting a supportive learning environment

Teachers have access to:

  • Ongoing Professional Development opportunities, including in-house events and LinkedIn Learning
  • A collaborative and innovative teaching environment that values quality and excellence
  • Competitive remuneration and attractive employment conditions

Selection Criteria:

  1. At least 800 hours of experience in EAL teaching across a broad range of programs
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build positive relationships with diverse cultural backgrounds
  3. Strong pedagogical background, with experience in designing engaging lessons and implementing effective assessment strategies
  4. Ability to adjust teaching style to meet varying levels of English proficiency
  5. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field

Qualifications:

  1. Degree or diploma plus CELTA or Certificate IV in TESOL, or post-graduate qualification in Education or a related field with a TESOL component
