The Senior Estimator and Business Development Manager is responsible for the provision of timely, commercially competitive, and profitable tender submissions. This individual will be directly accountable for the commercial profitability of tendered submissions.
Key Responsibilities- Build a budget and business development plan to achieve business KPIs and goals.
- Source new business opportunities, tenders, and contracts with new and existing clients.
- Contribute to the development, timely submission, and securing of tenders and contracts.
- Ensure accuracy in estimating and tender preparation, resulting in profitable outcomes.
- Support project managers to deliver within agreed compliance standards and budget.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure commitments to clients are delivered.
- Achieve Board and Executive agreed KPIs and targets, such as timely submission of tenders/quotes/contracts, gross revenue and margins, and high win/loss percentage for tenders.
- Prepare and maintain pipeline management and reporting.
- Increase the company's online presence, marketing, and associated activities over social media.
- A safety mindset and understanding of what it takes to drive a safety culture.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior estimating position within heavy engineering services, preferably fabrication, piping, and an understanding of weld rates.
- A record of developing and influencing positive relationships with current and prospective clients and stakeholders.
- Project and sales experience, preferably within metal fabrication or similar industries like engineering procurement construction management.
- Strong financial and business acumen to present reports, review pricing and estimating models, interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations.
- Advanced skills with MS Office, estimating tools, and other industry-related software.
