Procurement Specialist Job Description

This role is responsible for managing the company's procurement activities for MRO, Consumables and other services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct total national spend analyses based on historical information through the supply market (local, overseas).
  • Identify new suppliers and manage new and existing suppliers (local, overseas).
  • Develop procurement strategies to minimize risk and costs.
  • Coordinate and manage procurement process for design/services/works projects of a complex or special nature.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for products, service levels, prices, liabilities/warranties, geographical coverage, etc.
  • Prepare and implement procurement strategies for indirect spend category.
  • Recommend and execute systems and processes improvements to increase contract effectiveness within the company.
  • Ensure optimal supplier selection and evaluation process by conducting quality/safety/environmental systems and processes audits of potential and existing suppliers.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years' experience in procurement, contract management, supplier management and business-related disciplines.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification to degree level in procurement, supply chain, business, commerce or equivalent experience.
  • High level understanding of the legal and contractual framework for supply chain operations.
  • Experience using Six Sigma & Lean manufacturing.
