Job Overview

The Community Centre Worker plays a pivotal role in supporting Victoria's most marginalized population. They provide essential services, including access to food, hygiene facilities, and information on community resources.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming environment for individuals entering the facility, promoting a sense of calm and well-being.
  • Respond promptly to crisis situations, utilizing skills in first response and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with team members to deescalate and resolve complex issues, fostering a culture of open communication.
  • Develop personalized intervention plans, leveraging expertise in active listening and problem-solving.
  • Monitor services provided by volunteers, ensuring they meet the needs of service users.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and legislation affecting inner-city families, making informed decisions as needed.
  • Liaise with partner agencies and professionals working with the homeless, promoting collaborative efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as required, remaining adaptable and responsive to changing circumstances.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A diploma in a related human or social services field.

Training and Experience:

  • At least one year of recent experience in a related field.

This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
