Supporting Student Success

School learning support officers play a vital role in helping students with diverse learning needs achieve their educational goals. Working closely with teachers and other education professionals, they provide targeted support to ensure students reach their full potential.

The scope of this role includes supporting students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities, developing effective communication skills to work collaboratively with students, teachers and parents, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality educational outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families and educators to provide individualised support.
  • Utilise creative strategies to engage students and promote positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of inclusive education programs.
Requirements
  • Working with Vulnerable People Check Clearance
  • Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the role
  • Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs
  • Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions)
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work with students with complex needs
  • Awareness of the needs of students with diverse learning requirements
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
