We are seeking a skilled Civil Estimating Professional to join our Pre-contracts team in Shadforth Civil Contractors on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career with a leading family-owned civil contractor. As a Junior Civil Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for various civil engineering projects, including infrastructure, roadworks, earthworks, and underground services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates for civil projects, breaking down materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Evaluate project specifications, scope of works, and design documents to ensure thorough, principle-based pricing.
  • Identify risks and opportunities with project managers and engineers, raising key points early to mitigate risks or capitalize on potential benefits.
  • Work with in-house experts to stay updated on regulatory changes and alternate solutions to maintain competitive pricing.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to align on project expectations and procurement requirements.
  • Prepare clear cost breakdowns, methodologies, and programs for internal review before submission, maintaining organized records for compliance and reference.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years experience in civil construction, preferably with site experience in industrial or residential subdivisions.
  • Desire to grow a long-term career in estimating with a leading family-owned civil contractor.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in Autocad, Bluebeam, or 12D - advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with all levels of stakeholders.
