Job Overview



The Manufacturing Engineer is a crucial role at Cummins, responsible for leading the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to manufacturing equipment and systems.



This position requires strong leadership skills, as you will lead and co-lead teams to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.



Main Responsibilities




  • Lead projects to create and implement all aspects of manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and manufacturing standards.
  • Apply manufacturing principles and practices to improve equipment and processes, leveraging continuous improvement tools and following Cummins standards.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, influencing key external partners, business leaders, and functional members.
  • Work with internal and external resources on specific project assignments, demonstrating expertise in manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Maintain relationships and coach key stakeholders, promoting a collaborative work environment.

  • Manufacturing Analysis Led Design: Uses digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment, and performance to make data-driven decisions.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications.
  • Process Documentation: Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence followed by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.
  • Tool and Fixture Design: Selects work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during a manufacturing process.
  • Values differences: Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.
  • Continuous Process Improvement: Recognizes areas in which a process can be improved by properly implementing process improvement and waste reduction methodologies.
  • Ergonomics Process and Workplace Design: Designs, creates, or adapts processes and workstations by implementing ergonomic controls through the application of Cummins ergonomic design guidelines.
  • Problem Solving: Solves problems and may mentor others on effective problem-solving by using a systematic analysis process.
  • Workstation Design: Designs operator workstations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery.


Education and Experience



This role requires:




  • A degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • An intermediate level of relevant work experience.
  • Possibly licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.


Estimated Salary Range



$90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications.



About the Role



This Manufacturing Engineer position offers the opportunity to contribute to the continual safety improvement of Brisbane MRC, supporting emerging tooling issues, and managing the EASE database and change requests. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting CMES maintenance and change requests, and emerging ME projects to improve site capability and efficiency.
