We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Support Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing critical support to our Central Monitoring Station (CMS) team during twilight hours.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a national animal health diagnostic, research and bio-containment facility. As a Facilities Support Officer, you will be based at our ACDP facility and will be working on a rotating roster, with 4 consecutive 10.5-hour night shifts followed by 4-night shifts rostered off, repeatable across 365 nights.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. You will be responsible for investigating physical security breaches, conducting routine engineering tasks, site lockups, patrols, and plant operations at our ACDP facility.
  2. As part of your duties, you will attend to correspondence and other administrative duties as directed by CMS Operator.
  3. You will assist with CMS operation, investigate alarms and assist in remedial action as required.
  4. You will patrol non-secure and secure areas checking for unusual situations.
  5. You will complete engineering tasks safely and appropriately.
  6. You will conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections as requested.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Proven ability to use plant management control systems and physical security systems to operate, diagnose and maintain engineering plant and physical security systems.
  • High level technical knowledge of building and related engineering trades and services, including ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maintenance manuals, and understand diverse engineering systems relevant to safe operation of complex research facilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service focus, including developing effective working relationships and accepting responsibility for team performance with capacity to exercise sound judgement and flexibility in prioritising work against competing demands.
  • Ability to manage emergency responses, including co-ordination of emergency response teams and services, site communications and implementing emergency response procedures.
