Job Title: Assistive Technology Coordinator

Assistive Technology Coordinators play a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities to achieve their academic goals.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of students' assistive technology needs based on individualized plans and medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to implement recommended technologies, ensuring seamless integration and optimal support for students.
  • Develop and deliver engaging workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one support to help students utilize assistive technologies effectively.
  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades to assistive software and equipment, ensuring they remain accessible and user-friendly.
  • Manage the Equity Room operations and coordinate the loaning of ergonomic equipment to students, promoting equal access to learning opportunities.
  • Deliver comprehensive disability awareness and accessibility training to staff, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Support research initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in disability inclusion, driving positive change within the institution.
  • Maintain professional registration and knowledge through ongoing development, staying up-to-date with best practices and emerging trends.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Considerable knowledge and experience in disability management, functional implications, and assistive technology assessments.
  • Proven expertise in selecting and utilizing assistive technologies to support students with unique learning needs.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage others, present information clearly, and professionally.
