Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Our organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our Clinical Operations Directorate.

The COO will provide both strategic and operational leadership, with a strong emphasis on systems thinking, service improvement, healthcare reform, and financial stewardship. This pivotal role guides the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care across a broad portfolio of acute, sub-acute, ambulatory, and community services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic and operational performance of clinical services including inpatient and ambulatory care, care at home, specialist outpatient clinics, and infection prevention and control.
  • Foster a high-performance culture centred on patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen service integration, workforce planning, and system-wide alignment to strategic priorities.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support sustainable and responsive healthcare delivery.
  • Lead, support, and develop a high-performing leadership team across three operational directorates.

The successful applicant will demonstrate executive-level leadership experience in a hospital or large health service environment, sound understanding of clinical governance, performance management, and contemporary healthcare reform, proven capability in leading large multidisciplinary teams and managing substantial budgets, highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a strong values-driven approach to leadership.
