Protection and High Voltage Testing Specialist

For over 70 years, our integrated energy business has been providing reliable power to Australia. Based at Khancoban NSW, this role requires regular overnight travel throughout the regions. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise and support for protection and high voltage testing tasks.

This position reports to the Protection and HV Testing Supervisor and involves:

  • Providing technical guidance on protection requirements and issues affecting equipment operation and reliability
  • Conducting high voltage tests on generation and transmission assets, including power transformers and generators
  • Undertaking equipment condition assessments and investigating faults to identify root causes
  • Reviewing and updating technical documentation relating to protection schemes and high voltage plant installation and testing

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced Diploma in Electrical Supply Industry (ESI) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with HV testing and/or protection testing
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial experience, preferably in Power Generation
  • Cert III Electrotechnology is highly regarded

You will also require strong computer literacy and experience using tools such as word documents, spreadsheets and data acquisition programs. Demonstrated ability to understand technical specifications to develop testing documentation and conduct testing on protection schemes is essential.

The successful candidate will have technical knowledge of electrical apparatus and plants associated with heavy industry, together with strong analytical and research skills. Experience in fault finding/troubleshooting, testing, maintenance and commissioning involving complex electrical, electronic and protection systems is required.
