This is an identified position within Churches of Christ, requiring an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to fill the role. The Support Practitioner - Identified is responsible for providing high-level support to children, young people, foster and kinship carers, and families, primarily of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake screening, intake, and placement partnering processes for children and young people with foster and kinship care families.
- Utilize assessment, crisis, and short-term intervention skills and therapeutic approaches to clients, reporting issues to management.
- Facilitate the delivery of evidence-based parenting programs to parents and carers, utilizing appropriate modeling techniques to address identified needs and vulnerabilities.
- Negotiate, coordinate, and implement case management and planning, supporting the integration of joint case management processes.
- Maintain detailed and accurate client records.
You will have a degree qualification in social work, psychology, social sciences, or a related discipline, with applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks. Experience working with First Nations people is essential, as is a demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and Child Protection Act 1999.
