Maintenance Worker Job Summary

As a key member of our team, you will perform routine duties related to the maintenance of state highways and facilities. This entry-level position involves working under direct supervision with opportunities for career advancement.

Responsibilities include maintaining roadways and facilities, operating vehicles, and performing physical labor tasks such as loading and hauling materials, clearing brush, and cleaning ditches.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license. A passing grade on the written portion of the commercial driver's license (CDL) exam is required prior to hire date. The successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination are also necessary qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine duties related to the maintenance of state highways and facilities.
  • Operate vehicles to transport employees, equipment, machinery, and/or materials, or to warn oncoming traffic.
  • Loading and unloading materials and supplies, cutting and clearing brush, removing trash and debris from roadsides, and cleaning and clearing ditches.
  • Clean and repair state highway facilities, including repairing and replacing road signs and guardrails, cleaning curbs and gutters, painting buildings and equipment, and servicing equipment and machinery.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Passing Grade on CDL Written Exam.
  • Successful Completion of Work Simulation Examination.
  • Medical-Physical Examination.
Work Environment

This job requires significant physical stamina and endurance, including the ability to move materials by hand, operate hand tools, and perform stationary flagging.

It also involves outdoor work with exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse environmental conditions.
