Job Summary

As a Licensing Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth processing and issuing of licenses, permits, and registrations.

  • You will be responsible for researching, examining, and assessing relevant information to make recommendations for the approval or refusal of license, permit, and registration applications.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to statutory board activities, including preparing correspondence, reports, briefing papers, and making recommendations.
  • Update and maintain licensing systems, databases, and information management records for licensing, regulatory, and performance reporting requirements.
  • Participate in licensing compliance programs, investigate, analyze, and recommend suspension, revocation, or cancellation of licenses, permits, and registrations.
  • Offer advice and interpretations to applicants and stakeholders regarding license, permit, and registration requirements, legislation, and other matters.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of less experienced staff and contribute to work plans and team goals.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable legislation, policy, and procedures within a regulatory framework.
  • Experience using software packages, spreadsheets, and database applications with competence in maintaining data integrity.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience preparing correspondence, reports, and briefs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service and operate as an effective team member.
  • Sound judgment and analytical skills, including the ability to apply initiative, prioritize, and manage workloads in a high-pressure environment.
  • High level of personal drive and motivation with the ability to interact effectively with people in high-stress situations and those from diverse cultures.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous knowledge and experience with this or a similar regulatory/licensing framework.
  • Current driver's license.
