Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) Estimator to join our team at LGM Industries.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to drive the success of our tendering department in estimating the costs associated with structural elements, mechanical systems, and piping installations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for fixed plant, structural steel, mechanical, and piping systems including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracting costs.
  • Quantify the materials required for all components of each tender submission.
  • Complete cost estimates and schedules for workshop fabrication and site construction.
  • Compile comprehensive tender documentation, adhering to company standards and client specifications ensuring industry standards are met.
  • Analyzing SMP designs, drawings, plans, and models to accurately assess project scope and project constraints.
  • Identifying potential risks associated with each submission.
  • Reviewing and interpreting tender documentation at all levels.
  • Understanding contractual management and obligations.
  • Sourcing and liaising with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Coordinating site visits and meetings with clients.
  • Participating in post-tender negotiations.
Requirements:
  • Trade or engineering background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural, mechanical, and piping systems and configurations.
  • Minimum five years' experience servicing the industrial and/or resource sector.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office software, especially MS Excel and MS Project.
  • Desired experience with Primavera P6.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional demeanor.
  • High level of technical knowledge and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material quantity and costs.
  • Knowledge or understanding of project management principles.
  • Highly self-motivated with the initiative to work efficiently without supervision.
  • Knowledge of tank construction advantageous.
  • High level of business acumen and professionalism.
Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
