**Job Summary**

As Canberra Bureau Chief, you will lead Sky News' award-winning political team, responsible for breaking news stories and providing high-quality news coverage.

This is a leadership role that focuses on both editorial and personnel management, based in Parliament House.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Manage the Sky News Parliament House office
  • Make key editorial decisions and execute political news coverage
  • Lead and manage a team of reporters and producers, including assigning duties and providing direction
  • Support the production of political news programmes, including Politics Now & Sunday Agenda
  • Maintain and develop professional contacts to enhance on-air coverage
  • Handle administrative functions, including staff rostering, leave approvals, and expense approvals
  • Ensure content meets legal requirements and legal advice is passed on to relevant editorial staff

**Requirements**

  • At least seven years of news experience, preferably within political journalism
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Excellent knowledge of Australian politics, news, and international current affairs
  • Ability to write and edit news content
  • Knowledge of production systems, including ENPS and Quantel
