L3Harris is a leading provider of advanced defence and commercial technologies across air, land, sea, space and cyber domains. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Platform Integration team in Hamilton, Brisbane.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in mechanical design and integration of communications systems, products and ancillaries onto various land, sea or air platforms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring customer requirements are converted into solutions that balance technical, schedule and cost constraints for platform design.
  • Leading aspects of the engineering program in development, technical reviews, integration or verification within the scope of the contract to conclusion with the customer.
  • Coordinating with parties providing engineering services for the project, ensuring understanding of their responsibilities, processes to be used, and time-frames involved.
  • Providing guidance on mechanical aspects of vehicle integration design and verification of mechanical requirements.
  • Guidance and oversight of manufacture of locally designed integration hardware.
  • Development of system analyses, trade studies and design artefacts as determined.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Ability to work in an agile work environment.
  • Strong consulting, employee relations, conflict management, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to navigate effectively within engineering tools and business management system.
  • Working knowledge of navigating regulatory requirements, standards and specifications.
  • Chartered Professional Engineering Member with Institute of Engineers Australia.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ).
