We are seeking a Local Area Coordinator to work in collaboration with people with disability, families, local governments, community groups, mainstream agencies, and businesses. Your key responsibility will be to identify and overcome barriers to access and inclusion through community-based project work.
You will engage people with disability, families, and local stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions to the barriers identified by people with disability, including employment and community involvement.
About the Role- Work collaboratively with people with disability and their families to assist them in accessing and benefiting from the NDIS.
- Lead and implement local projects through a project management approach, ensuring sustainability through relationship building and community capacity building.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of others while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist people with disability and their families to access and prepare for the NDIS.
- Develop and implement local projects to improve community knowledge of the NDIS and address barriers to access and inclusion.
- Build relationships with local stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of projects.
- Demonstrated experience or lived experience working with people with disability or diverse communities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with people with disability, families, and local stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
- Access to transport and a current Working with Children Check.
- Professional development opportunities, including training in presentation and project management skills.
