Occupational Therapist

At BaptistCare, we are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Gracehaven, a 98-bed residential aged care facility. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
Job Description:
- In this part-time position, you will conduct comprehensive assessments of residents to determine their individual capabilities and develop tailored care plans that maximise their physical and emotional wellbeing.
- You will work closely with our Lifestyle Coordinator to design, implement, and review programs that promote independence and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
- This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as you will be responsible for providing guidance and clinical supervision to other team members.
- You will model person-centred care and provide direction to staff on performing their duties, ensuring the needs of residents are met in accordance with their care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a multi-disciplinary team approach prioritising the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents across the facility, including contributing to case conferences.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical supervision to the Lifestyle Coordinator and Therapy and Leisure Partners, ensuring resident needs are met.
- Model enablement of residents and provide direction to staff on performing their duties.
- Complete comprehensive assessments and regular reviews to identify residents' physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
- BUILD TRUSTING RELATIONSHIPS WITH RESIDENTS BASED ON DIGNITY AND RESPECT, OPTIMISING COOPERATION.
- LISTEN TO FAMILY CONCERNS AND SUPPORT THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF CHANGING NEEDS, REFERRING THEM FOR ADDITIONAL SUPPORT AS APPROPRIATE.
Requirements:
- Current registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.
- An understanding and appreciation of contemporary Occupational Therapy practice and issues in aged care.
- An ability to collaborate, negotiate, and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team approach to care planning and delivery.
- An ability to relate to older people with empathy, understanding, and affording dignity and respect.
- Willingness to obtain or provide proof of up-to-date Influenza & Covid-19 Vaccinations.
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical.
- Willingness to obtain National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check.
