Job OverviewThis is a flexible permanent part-time role, with a minimum of 16 hours a fortnight, over Monday to Friday and is divided into 3-4 hour shifts over the fortnight. The opportunity will see you support the general medical admission assessment of patients admitting to Ramsay Clinic Cairns as voluntary clients.
Key Responsibilities- Identify patient needs through systematic assessment ensuring appropriate treatment is implemented in collaboration with Visiting Medical Officers (Psychiatrists).
- Implement planned medical care which is evidence-based to achieve identified outcomes.
- Prioritize and provide medical care according to professional standards and hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide collegial support in clinical problem-solving, acting as a role model and resource person for staff.
- Assist with education of clinical staff and medical students within areas of expertise as required.
- Participate in discharge planning, coordinating activities with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure medication prescription, management, and documentation complies with legal and hospital policy requirements.
- Provide effective first-line management during medical emergencies and code situations, including the management of potentially aggressive patients.
- Current and relevant registration with AHPRA.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
- Minimum of 3 years post-graduate General Practitioner experience.
- Competent in providing advanced life support measures.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in an acute mental health care facility (desirable).
