We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Support Class employee to join our team at Prahran High School. As an Education Support Class employee, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational services provided to students, working under the supervision and direction of teachers and other school staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning of student routines and supporting communication between teachers and parents.
- Support the coordination of educational programs, including rostering and organizing the work of a team of aides, providing routine coordination, guidance, and support to other student support staff.
- Provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, such as toileting, meals, and lifting, as well as communicating with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.
- Address immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting, aligned to school policy and procedure.
- Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.
- Support teachers in the coordination of educational programs, including liaising with external providers of support services about clearly defined support needs and resources.
- Provide medical intervention support to students, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.
- Provide specialized communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff.
- Ability to provide routine support and coordination of educational programs, with a focus on student wellbeing and safety.
- Basic physical care and wellbeing support skills, including toileting, meals, and lifting.
- Ability to address immediate behavioural presentations and provide basic support and supervision for students.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
