Job Overview

The role of General Surgery Specialist at Austin Health offers a challenging opportunity for medical professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. This position is designed to provide a comprehensive training experience in General Surgery, allowing individuals to develop the necessary skills and expertise.

About the Position

This unaccredited specialist role is part of the dual service provision and training program in General Surgery at Austin Northern Training Hub (ANTH). The primary objectives are to provide surgical relief for General Surgery SET and Non-SET trainees, as well as night surgical cover for both Austin Health and Northern Health.

  • Surgical Relief: Providing support to General Surgery trainees, ensuring continuity of care and minimizing disruption to services.
  • Training Opportunity: Rotating through various departments, gaining hands-on experience and completing the minimum requirements for entry into Specialty Education and Training (SET).
Key Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Demonstrate registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Show evidence of relevant training and experience in General Surgery.
  • Maintain a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

  • Pursue opportunities for teaching and research.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Clinical Governance principles.

Requirements
