Job Overview

The role of Operations Manager is pivotal in ensuring the safe and secure environment for staff, prisoners, contractors, and visitors at a correctional facility. This position requires extensive experience in a correctional setting and demonstrated expertise in a supervisory or management capacity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver the organization's vision and values through personal behaviors and standards required of others.
  • Daily visits to all areas of responsibility provide guidance, leadership, and support to staff, maintaining good order in the prison.
  • Develop strong relationships with staff, partners, contractors, and clients.
  • Ensure staff teams are engaged and accountable, promoting consultation and feedback to support a positive workplace culture and ensure compliance with legislative frameworks.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant management staff and prisoner meetings, maintain records, and conduct disciplinary hearings.
  • Investigate and monitor staff performance, comply with company procedures and policies, and ensure all operations are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Mentor and coach staff, participate in on-call responsibilities, and manage prisoner complaints in a timely manner.
Essential Requirements:
  • Ability to handle challenging situations.
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and lead staff effectively.
  • Sound understanding of the legislative framework governing correctional environments.
  • Minimum five years' experience in a Correctional or Industrial Environment.
  • Minimum two years in a Supervisory role.
  • Certification in Correctional Practice or equivalent accreditation/experience.
