Psychiatrist Position at Mental Health Virtual Care Centre

The Mental Health Virtual Care Centre is seeking an experienced and recovery-oriented Consultant Psychiatrist to join our skilled multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, tailored interventions, and collaborative care planning in line with industry guidelines.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an innovative model of care that blends clinical excellence with flexibility, accessibility, and person-centred practice. The consultant psychiatrist will work on a part-time basis (0.4 FTE) and play a key role in shaping recovery pathways and supporting participants to achieve meaningful, sustainable outcomes in their recovery journey.

  • This position may be varied as agreed with the Director of Medical Services and as approved by relevant authorities to other facilities within the district.

Selection Criteria:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements.
  • Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services in the specialty, demonstrated through successful clinical practice and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff.
  • Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate as a senior Medical Practitioner including modelling professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team and communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of the department.
