About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Officer to join our team on a temporary flexible full-time basis. As a Senior Legal Officer, you will play a key role in preparing complex matters referred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for prosecution.

As an advocate, you will represent the State of Queensland in criminal cases, appearing in the District Court, Magistrates Court, and higher courts. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively manage relationships with stakeholders, including defence counsel, solicitors, police officers, victims, and witnesses.

You will be responsible for supervising, motivating, and leading legal officers and support staff in the delivery of legal services. This will involve actively engaging in activities aimed at improving work practices, ensuring high standards of professional competence and ethical conduct.

Mandatory qualifications, conditions, and requirements include being admitted as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia. You will need to demonstrate your ability to apply well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, supervise, train, and mentor legal and support staff, and maintain a high standard of professional competence and ethical standards.
