Support Practitioner

About the Role
As a Support Practitioner with Churches of Christ, you will play a vital role in providing care and support services to children, young people, and their families. You will be responsible for delivering key community support services, including negotiating family support plans and undertaking placement coordination activities. Your expertise in assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term intervention skills will enable you to provide therapeutic and practical support services to those in need.
Key Responsibilities
Carer recruitment, training, and assessments
Delivering information sessions and pre-service training for prospective carers
Negotiating family support plans and undertaking placement coordination activities
Providing assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term intervention skills and therapeutic approaches to support children, young people, and their families
Requirements
Degree qualification in social work, psychology, social sciences, or a related discipline
Minimum two years' experience in the provision of care services to children, young people, and their families in statutory care
Demonstrated experience in providing training to carers and applying assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term intervention skills and therapeutic approaches
Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks
Possess or willingness to obtain National Police Check, Working with Children (Blue Card) Licensed Care Service (Child Protection)
