Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Business Lending team at Westpac Group. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our business partners, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of Australia's leading financial institutions, contributing to the delivery of high-quality legal services that drive business outcomes. You will work closely with our Business Lending team, providing transactional support on business lending matters, reviewing and advising on facility agreements, common terms deeds, security trust deeds, security documents, and ancillary documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and support to Business Lending partners, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Review and advise on facility agreements, common terms deeds, security trust deeds, security documents, and ancillary documentation.
  • Work closely with Business Lending team to provide transactional support on business lending matters.
  • Ensure external legal resources are properly and efficiently selected and used.
  • Provide insight to Business Lending business partners on and guide the implementation of external advice.
  • Partner with Business Lending line of business to maintain awareness of relevant regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Substantial experience (at least 12-15 years post-admission) in commercial law, with a focus on business and corporate lending.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Intellect, agility, strong personal judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Gravitas and professionalism in challenging situations.
