Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Town Planner in a fixed-term program designed to develop skills and knowledge in statutory planning, development assessment, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice on planning and development matters through Council's Duty Planner and pre-lodgement services
  • Assist with assessing development proposals and related applications, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
  • Support customers via counter, phone, and email, providing high-quality service and resolving queries efficiently
  • Undertake site inspections and coordinate feedback from internal and external stakeholders, meeting Council deadlines and statutory timeframes
  • Prepare reports, memorandums, and correspondence on development matters, communicating complex information effectively
Requirements:
  • Enrolment in a tertiary course leading to a qualification in town planning or a related discipline is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in development assessment and statutory planning, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills. A basic understanding of relevant planning legislation and regulations is also essential. Commitment to continuous learning and a proactive work ethic are highly valued. Additionally, a Class C Driver's Licence is necessary for the role.
