Locomotive Driver Assistant Role

This is an exciting opportunity to start your rail career. As a Casual Locomotive Driver Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services.

About the Opportunity

You will work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This role offers valuable hands-on experience where you will assist in a variety of rail operational tasks while being supported by a dedicated team.

  • You will be responsible for assisting in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
Your Training Journey

Our comprehensive training program includes:

  • Initial paid classroom & practical training (38 hours per week).
  • Assisting in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
  • Training school will be held in Mackay (Accommodation will be provided during classroom training).
Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Adaptability:Comfortable handling changing environments and challenges.
  • Reliability:Dependable in attendance, safety, and teamwork.
  • Enthusiasm for Learning:Eager to develop new skills in the rail industry.
  • Geographic Location:Residing in or near Bowen.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment
  • Current full Class C or higher Driver's Licence (no restrictions)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid National Police Clearance(with no court outcomes)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments.
