Visionary Built Environment Leader

The Senior Architectural Project Manager will oversee the planning and execution of key site masterplans, building, and facility projects. The ideal candidate will ensure timely completion and adherence to budget while maintaining design integrity.
- This is a full-time opportunity with a temporary duration up to August 2027
- Inspire others to value design excellence and place making;
- Analyze needs, prepare project briefs defining quality, scope, budget, and program for each project;
- Manage masterplanning of key public sites, concept design, and detailed design of architectural and urban design projects identified by Council;
- Ensure design quality during the construction phase;
- Establish effective liaison mechanisms with Council's Operations Department for the delivery of capital works projects;
- Develop and monitor project plans, cost plans, work breakdown structures, and Gantt charts for each project;
- Serve as a member of assessment teams in relation to consultant and tender selection;
- Provide architectural and design advice to Council;
- Attend after-hours events, meetings as required;
- Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, or other relevant discipline;
- Current Class C driver's licence;
- At least five years of post-graduate experience in Project Management, Design Management, or similar, including in a senior position;
- Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills;
- Extensive experience in managing complex capital works/building projects to improve the built environment;
- Adept at managing project budgets, project plans, cost plans, work breakdown structures, and Gantt charts for each project;
- Demonstrated capital works project management experience ranging from engaging consultants to site investigation and design development;
- Understanding of construction issues, terminology, materials, and methods;
- Effective negotiation skills;
- Experience working within multi-discipline teams, including Architects, Landscape Architects, Designers, Engineers, Contract Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors;
- Display interpersonal skills in negotiation, advocacy, consultation skills, and strong customer service focus;
- Eligibility for Registration with AIA, AILA, PIA, or equal professional peak organisation.
