About the Opportunity

This apprenticeship is designed to provide individuals with a unique chance to learn a skilled maintenance trade and work with a diverse range of equipment in our modern food production facilities.

  • Apprentices will have the opportunity to rotate between different facilities, including Devonport, Ulverstone & Simplot Harvesters facilities.
  • The role involves working with various food processing / manufacturing plant & equipment.

Upon successful completion, apprentices will obtain a nationally recognised qualification (Cert III Engineering - Mechanical).

About You

We are seeking individuals who possess:

  • A strong foundation in engineering principles, either through completing school-based modules or having relevant work experience.
  • A genuine interest in learning a mechanical fitting trade.
  • Basic knowledge of tooling, materials and mechanical aptitude.
  • Problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Strong mathematical and English attributes.
  • Intermediate IT skills with regards to Windows-based operating systems.
  • Citizenship or permanent residency in Australia.
  • An ability to commence full-time employment within 12 months.
  • A driver's licence or Learners Permit with a view to obtaining P plates soon.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse people and cultures.
Key Responsibilities

As an apprentice, you will be involved in:

  • Safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Learning industry best practices for preventative maintenance and breakdown activities.
  • Operating hand tools, electrical and pneumatic powered tools, and equipment.
  • Machining components using lathes and other equipment.
  • Welding (TIG, MIG, MMA).
  • Sheet metal fabrication.
  • Working in a workshop environment and on the production floor.
  • Collaborating with Maintenance/Engineering and Production teams on production line maintenance tasks.
  • Using CMMS systems for data entry, work orders, and stores lookups.
