Senior Payroll Officer

The Payroll Specialist will oversee the entire payroll function for a dynamic retail business. They will supervise one direct report, manage payroll systems, and collaborate with internal departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Manage fortnightly end-to-end payroll processing for a large workforce.
- Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, awards, and company policies.
- Supervise and support one payroll officer, providing guidance and overseeing day-to-day tasks.
- Collaborate with internal departments including HR and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain payroll systems and ensure data integrity, including managing system upgrades or improvements as needed.
- Prepare payroll reports and provide analysis to support business decisions.
- Respond to employee queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Proven payroll experience within the retail sector.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Experience working with large payroll systems; prior implementation or upgrade experience highly regarded.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
- Ability to manage and mentor staff effectively.
