Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Museum Exhibition Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Exhibitions and Cultural Collections department, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and innovative exhibitions that showcase Newcastle's stories and cultural heritage.

About the Role:

  • You will work closely with exhibition developers, curators, archivists, and cultural collection managers to develop and deliver high-quality exhibitions that meet the needs of our diverse community.
  • You will provide administrative support for exhibition planning, purchasing, creative narratives, design, and installation across our network of exhibition spaces and sites.
  • You will collaborate with external stakeholders and community groups to build relationships and develop exhibitions that are relevant and meaningful to our audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement exhibition concepts and designs that align with our strategic goals and community needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and deliver exhibitions that meet deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Provide administrative support for exhibition planning, including procurement, logistics, and installation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, community groups, and artists to develop exhibitions that are relevant and meaningful to our audience.
  • Collaborate with curators, archivists, and cultural collection managers to develop exhibitions that showcase Newcastle's stories and cultural heritage.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as museum studies, arts administration, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in exhibition development, curation, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative ideas for exhibitions.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Australian culture and history, particularly in relation to the Newcastle region.

Estimated Salary Range: $69,926 - $83,815 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), plus 11.5% superannuation.
