Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Technical Resources. As a Geotechnical Engineer - Tailings Facility Closure Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient closure of tailings facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Oversight: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineers of Record, Designers, and Construction Teams, to ensure compliance with local and national regulations, company standards, and industry guidelines.
  • Safety and Compliance: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans to manage and minimize risks associated with tailings facilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in dam safety management, closure design, and execution, and recommend innovative practices and technologies to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Monitoring and Inspection: Conduct regular inspections, audits, and surveillance of tailings facilities to monitor performance, identify potential hazards, and assess integrity.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans to manage and minimize risks associated with tailings facilities.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering, or related field.
  • Qualifications: Master's degree in Soil Mechanics or Geotechnical Engineering, or professional registration (P.Eng, CPEng, or equivalent), highly regarded.
  • Experience: Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve safety and operational outcomes and delivery of targets.
  • Skills: Proficiency in geotechnical analysis, data interpretation, and the use of relevant software tools (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, stability analysis software).
