Project Accountant Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced financial professional to join our team at Downer Rail and Transit Systems.

The successful candidate will provide essential financial analysis and accounting oversight to support the successful delivery of our Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) project.

  • Contribute to the timely and accurate deliverables of the Finance team and assess ongoing opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operational and finance stakeholders to drive accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Deliver month-end reporting, project valuations, and support payment claims submissions.
  • Month end process including journals, reconciliations, and analysis on WIP, billings, cost allocations, profitability, and working capital management.
  • Partner with the business to deliver the project Forecast Costs at Completion (FCAC) model including analysis on costs drivers.
  • Provide excellent service to internal or external customers by understanding and meeting their needs.
  • Contribute to the broader deliverables of the RTS group largely around reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to the business with financial processes/systems/purchasing.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience.
  • Currently completing or willing to complete a CPA/CA/CFA.
  • Extensive experience in finance and accounting roles, including project accounting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Previous experience in project accounting within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Previous experience with JDEGS or large ERP system and strong Excel capability.
  • Self-motivated, results-focused, and able to work under pressure.
  • Professional, positive attitude with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong work ethic and the ability to manage competing priorities.
