Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mechanical engineering investigations, reviewing and approving calculations, and working with the drafting team to develop and review layouts and drawings.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 12 years of experience in the mineral processing industry, preferably in gold processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical engineering investigations on existing and future plants and equipment.
  • Review and approve necessary mechanical engineering calculations.
  • Work with the drafting team to develop and review civil, mechanical, and structural layouts, arrangement, and detail drawings.
  • Evaluate and adjudicate received bids and quotations for mechanical and process equipment and civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes of work.
  • Create cost estimates and bills of materials for project budgets and scope definition.
  • Ensure justifications for contractual claims resolution and variations during project implementation.
  • Recommend remedial actions to mitigate schedule delays, scope creeps, and budget overruns.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and government legislation and objectives and priorities for tasks undertaken.
  • Prepare engineering proposals and solutions.
  • Develop and provide a standard calculation template for mechanical design, referencing applicable standards and codes, especially Australian standards.
Requirements
  • RPEQ preferred (or Chartered and eligible for RPEQ)
  • 12 years of experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, with Mineral Processing Industry experience, preferably gold
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of accepted Mechanical engineering practices, design codes, and regulations
  • Prior international work well regarded, but not essential
