Carmichael UK is seeking a highly skilled Site Engineer to join our team on a long-term basis for the Devonport Docks project in Plymouth.
We are looking for a site engineer with strong CAD skills and the ability to set out, as well as experience in reinforced concrete structures using system formwork.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of As-Built Drawings: Assist in the preparation of accurate and detailed as-built drawings.
- Quality Management: Assist in establishing effective systems to record work completed, updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
- Quality Checks and Surveys: Participate in developing quality check sheets and carrying out quality checks & surveys.
- Site Safety and Quality Inspections: Assist with site safety, environmental & quality inspections.
- Progress Monitoring: Assist in managing systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
- Workmanship and Materials: Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork, etc.
- Engineering Support: Provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
- Setting Out: Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances from provided site control.
- Setting Out Instruments: Regularly check the setting out points and benchmarks, ensuring that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
- Documentation: Complete Daily Diaries and keep trackers up to date.
- Procurement: Assist in the procurement of site materials and equipment.
- Communication: Ensure the workforce understands that setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
- Sketches and Drawings: Prepare sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.
- Safety and Environmental Management: Be aware of the provisions of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System and assist in its implementation to ensure a safe working environment.
- Drawing Register: Maintain the drawing register.
- Qualifications: Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable (one or more of: BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship).
- Certifications: SSSTS certification.
- Professional Development: May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE, or other appropriate professional body.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical & digital levels) for Setting Out & Survey.
- Experience: Experience in reinforced concrete structures using system formwork is essential.
- Commercial Awareness: Awareness of commercial processes.
- Quality Management: Familiarity with Quality Management System and experience in writing RAMS.
- Leadership and Management: Proven people and project management skills.
- Teamwork: Team leader with organisational skills.
- IT Skills: Good standard of IT skills.
- Flexibility: Flexible to working weekends and out of hours (on a rota basis to suit project requirements).
