We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to provide expert legal support and guidance to our organisation. This role will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice, contract drafting and negotiation in collaboration with the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial, property, employment, environment, construction or resources law and be admitted to practice in Australia with eligibility for a WA practicing certificate.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring legislative changes impacting the business, providing legal input into risk management processes and developing legal strategies. You will also engage and manage external legal counsel when specialist advice is required.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel on strategic initiatives and legal projects;
- Advising on legal responsibilities, disputes and regulatory compliance across our operations;
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts including procurement, construction, consultancy and confidentiality agreements;
- Developing and updating policies and procedures in response to legislative or business changes;
- Engaging and managing external legal counsel when specialist advice is required.
Requirements
- Holds a tertiary law degree from a common law jurisdiction and a minimum of 5 years PQE;
- Advanced drafting, negotiation and communication skills;
- Strong commercial acumen;
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated capacity for independence and initiative;
- Capable of building effective relationships and navigating complex stakeholder environments;
- Aligns with our values and consistently acts with integrity.
