Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aged Care Assistant to join our team at SA Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care and support to our residents living in the Carnarvon and Anchusa Nursing Homes on Kangaroo Island.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nurses in routine tasks and provide basic aged care skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Perform a range of duties that require technical support functions, such as setting up for nursing procedures, cleaning equipment, and managing local stock levels.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a physically and culturally safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities through recording and reporting data and reviewing established guidelines, protocols, procedures, standards, and systems of work.
Requirements
  • Enrolled as a student in an undergraduate program in nursing or hold a Certificate III or IV in aged care or home and community care, or equivalent of 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing person-centred care and work well under limited direction within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Have a good understanding of aged care standards and be able to communicate effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and display empathy towards the elderly.
